The biggest beta yet. Agents get a file manager, health monitoring, and automatic session rotation when context goes stale. The app gains a system tray, auto-start, and real-time container setup progress. Cross-agent data is accessible from any chat input via slash commands.
What's new
File management
You can now browse, upload, download, and edit files directly inside an agent's container. The three-column file explorer supports creating folders, uploading directories, editing text files inline, and downloading to your local machine. Destructive actions ask for confirmation first.
System tray and auto-start
Apprentice can minimize to the system tray on close, keeping agents running in the background. A new Startup section in Settings lets you enable "Start with OS" and "Minimize to tray on close". The tray icon restores the window in one click.
Agent health status
Unresolved errors now surface as a health indicator on each agent's card and sidebar entry. Red means active errors, yellow means warnings. You can resolve individual errors from the activity timeline, and they clear automatically after a configurable decay period (default 7 days).
Session staleness and context rotation
When an agent's session has been idle past its timeout (default 60 minutes), the app detects staleness and offers to rotate: summarizing the current conversation and starting a fresh session that carries forward the important context. If rotation fails, you can retry or start a completely new session.
Cross-agent slash commands
Typing / in any chat or topic input opens a picker that searches tasks, schedules, topics, knowledge files, store entries, and memories across all your agents. Results are grouped by agent, navigable with keyboard, and insert formatted references on selection.
Global activity view
A new Activity page in the main navigation shows events from all agents in one timeline. Filter by agent, date range, or activity type to find past events or audit what your agents have been doing.
Container setup progress
First-time container builds now show step-by-step progress: checking the runtime image, building it, starting the container, and verifying tools. No more staring at a spinner wondering what is happening.
Stop chat responses
In multi-agent chats, you can now stop all in-flight responses with one click. The UI resets immediately so you can send a new message without waiting.
Improvements
- Deleting a schedule now asks for confirmation before removing it
- Email integrations read messages per-channel instead of mixing everything into one inbox
- Provider detection is faster when multiple CLI providers are configured
- Agents can reconnect to a dropped browser session without a full reset
- Archived tasks no longer appear in the task board grouping
